Mt Washington EMS is an American Heart Association Training Center.   Our goal is to have as many citizens within our community CPR certified so that in an emergency they can be prepared to assist. Course Descriptions

Classroom Based Courses for Healthcare Professionals:
Basic Life Support: The classroom-based, Instructor-led BLS for Healthcare Providers Course teaches healthcare professionals the critical skills of high-quality CPR, to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR, use an AED, and relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner.

Advanced Cardiac Life Support: Instructor-led classroom course that highlights the importance of team dynamics and communication, systems of care and immediate post--cardiac-arrest care. It also covers airway management and related pharmacology. In this course, skills are taught in large, group sessions and small, group learning and testing stations where case-based scenarios are presented.

Pediatric Advanced Life Support: This classroom, video-based, Instructor-led course uses a series of simulated pediatric emergencies to reinforce the important concepts of a systematic approach to pediatric assessment, basic life support, PALS treatment algorithms, effective resuscitation and team dynamics. The goal of the Pediatric Advanced Life Support Course is to improve the quality of care provided to seriously ill or injured children, resulting in improved outcomes.

Advanced Cardiac Life Support for Experienced Providers: The goal of the ACLS EP Course is to improve outcomes in complex cardiovascular, respiratory and other (eg, metabolic, toxicologic) emergencies by expanding on core ACLS guidelines and encouraging critical thinking and decision making strategies. Through instruction and active participation in case-based scenarios, learners enhance their skills in the differential diagnosis and treatment of prearrest, arrest and postarrest patients.

Heartsaver First Aid: Heartsaver First Aid is a classroom, video-based, Instructor-led course that teaches students critical skills to respond to and manage an emergency in the first few minutes until emergency medical services (EMS) arrives.
 
Heartsaver First Aid/CPR/AED: Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED is a classroom, video-based, Instructor-led course that teaches students critical skills needed to respond to and manage a first aid, choking or sudden cardiac arrest emergency in the first few minutes until emergency medical services (EMS) arrives. Students learn skills such as how to treat bleeding, sprains, broken bones, shock and other first aid emergencies. This course also teaches adult CPR and AED use.


Heartsaver CPR/AED: This classroom course teaches basic CPR skills such as performing a head tilt-chin lift and giving compressions and breaths. The course provides training for anyone who wants to learn basic CPR and obtain a Heartsaver course completion card.


Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED: The Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid CPR AED Course is designed to meet the regulatory requirements for child care workers in all 50 United States. It teaches child care providers and others to respond to and manage illnesses and injuries in a child or infant in the first few minutes until professional help arrives. The course covers the Four Steps of Pediatric First Aid and modules in Pediatric First Aid, Child/Infant CPR AED, Adult CPR AED, and Asthma Care Training.
